Let’s talk donuts y’all! It’s a fair statement to say that Texans know donuts. Luckily, it seems that there are donut shops in every neighborhood and on every other corner. While there probably isn’t such a thing as a bad donut, some donut shops are better than others. Let’s talk about the top donut shops in the Dallas metroplex.

Hypnotic Donuts – Dallas, Texas

Hypnotic Donuts is home of Dallas’ original craft donut. They have now opened a second location in Denton, Texas right off of the square. Yelpers have agreed that their three best menu items are the chicken biscuits, the Evil Elvis, and the Canadian Healthcare. These are the donuts that may make you take a pause before you take your first bite because of their beauty and Instagram worthiness.

If you’re from the South, you need no further explanation of what a good chicken biscuit is. If you are not from the South, get down to Hypnotic Donuts and try one out for yourself. A description really wouldn’t do it justice.

Let’s talk about the Evil Elvis for a moment, they took Elvis’ favorite snack and turned it into a delicious donut that has bananas, peanut butter, bacon, and honey. This is another one you must try for yourself.

While their menu is unique and seemingly limitless, the last donut up for discussion is the Canadian Healthcare. This donut is a long john with maple icing, a full strip of bacon, and syrup on top.

While it’s no surprise, it seems that bacon really does make everything better. Don’t take our word for it, get out and go try one (or five) for yourself.

Shin’s Donuts – Irving, Texas

Shin’s Donuts is definitely an Irving staple. While there is no flashy decor or over-the-top fancy donuts here, it’s just plain goodness. If you are looking for a quick, delicious, and affordable donut fix, this is the place to go. They are most known for the pigs in a blanket, or sausage rolls, or whatever you want to call them. However, the blueberry cake donut and the glazed twist come in close for second. One Yelper said Shin’s donuts “should be regulated by the Drug Enforcement Agency as they are so great they are addictive!” We happen to agree with this statement. Get down to Shin’s to shut up your sweet tooth.

Mojo Donuts– Dallas, Texas

Mojo Donuts really masters the art of combining unique flavors. At some point, you start to question whether or not 3 things fell into a mixing bowl and they made the most of it with their serendipitous creations. While all of their masterful donuts will leaving you wanting more, their top three are the Nutella almond, coconut cream, and cookie batter.

One Yelper says “Don’t judge a book by its cover. Thought this place was an old pawn shop and/or tattoo parlor but turned out to be one of the best spots for gourmet donuts in DFW.” While it seems to appear a bit rough around the edges, it really just has more of cozy old-school vibe. Their motto is “Tired of having the same old donut?” If so, check them out, you deserve a donut.

Donut shops are the Saturday or Sunday morning staple on a beautiful Texas morning. Or maybe a peace offering for when you’re showing up late to the office. Next time you are in the mood for a donut, try something new and visit these delicious donut shops. You never know, you may find your new favorite spot.
